Kyiv – A Moment in Time by Walsall Rotarian Peter Ford

 

This book represents three and a half years of my life; living, working and photographing in and around Kyiv. For over 20 years, these negatives and slides have been sitting in cardboard boxes in our garage. They’ve travelled with me to Tbilisi Georgia, Luanda Angola and Montreal Canada, where they survived a winter flood. Devastated by the carnage brought on by the Russian invasion, I decided to honour the many friends I made in Kyiv. I decided to look through the boxes, and after showing them to photographer friends of mine, they all agreed that they would make an interesting photo book, a moment in Kyiv’s history. This is a non profit venture.

 

All profits go to Walsall Rotary Club’s charity that funds Humanitarian aid (medicines and medical supplies) to Ukrainians in Ukraine.

 

Peter’s book looks back on his time in Ukraine, and captures the essence of the people of Ukraine at a time when the cultural identity of the Ukrainian people is under threat.

The book has been received and read by Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Peter presented a cheque to Walsall Rotary Club from the proceeds of the book sales.
